355,000 votes were cast at my-headphone.com – beyerdynamic will launch the headphone with the winning design as a special edition
Heilbronn/Germany, November 11th, 2013: The community has decided; the winner of the world’s first Crowdsourcing Design Contest for headphones has been selected. Among 4,902 entries to the “my-headphone.com by beyerdynamic” contest the internet users have chosen a truly attractive design as a winner. The appeal “Choose your Destiny” is written on the ear cups of the midnight black CUSTOM ONE PRO. With blue-grey, cubistic forms the designer continues to appeal “Don’t give up. Become a Master.”
The “Choose your destiny –emFelipe” design received around 5,000 of more than 355,000 votes. The winner Filip M. from Poland is happy: “I have never thought that my fans will support me so much." The student and music fan (Electro House, Glitch Hop) advertised his design in an own YouTube channel, which eventually proved to be very successful.
As Filip is interested in graphics and sound design it was clear that he would take part. Furthermore, the winner combines a serious request with his design. In an accompanying text he writes: “The one who wants to become a master, needs a lot of patience. He has to fight with himself to become better and better. Don’t give up. Never. Take your destiny into your own hands. Now.”
In addition to the prize money of 1,000 Euro, the winner can hold his designed headphone in his hands soon. As announced, beyerdynamic will launch the winning design of the CUSTOM ONE PRO as a special edition. With immediate effect it can exclusively be ordered at the beyerdynamic online shop for 229 Euro. The time of delivery will be 6 to 8 weeks.
The participants of the positions 2 to 10 will also be rewarded for taking part. They will receive the CUSTOM ONE PRO base model worth 229 Euro. With its unique CUSTOM style kits, the innovative CUSTOM sound sliders and the replaceable CUSTOM cable the headphone can be configured according to the user’s desires.
But this is not all: “We are overwhelmed by the response to www.my-headphone.com and amazed by the creativity of the participants”, said Thomas Halbgewachs from beyerdynamic. “There are also interesting designs among the last positions that deserve special consideration”, adds the Business Unit Manager for Consumer Products. This is the reason why he and some co-organisers of the contest, Juliane Eckstein (Head of Product Design) and Joscha Kretschmann (Product Manager Headphones), selected their personal favourites from all entries. The three designs “popArt”, “Steam” and “Miami” show an impressive selection of the whole variety of designs. Their creators can also look forward to receiving a CUSTOM ONE PRO base model.
