Heilbronn, January 2012/MD: At the NAMM Show in Anaheim/USA (January 19 to 22, 2012) beyerdynamic will present an anniversary model of the classic M 88 TG microphone in a limited edition.
The M 88 microphone is one of the many legendary developments that frequently come from the strong spirit of innovation at beyerdynamic, an audio specialist company founded in Germany in 1924.
The company celebrates its 88th birthday in 2012 - that's over eight decades of applied advanced technology in professional audio electronics. The M 88 microphone is also celebrating a big birthday in 2012. For 50 years now it has been the standard microphone used in the rock music and blues scenes all over the world. When it comes to top quality music reproduction, the M 88 all-rounder has been the preferred choice in the industry for half a century, mastering almost any stage situation through legendary sound quality and unsurpassed acoustic feedback security. There is hardly a better mic for an anniversary model to honor the birthday of the beyerdynamic company.
The M 88 received the highest honors shortly after its birth in 1962, when it served as the only microphone during Queen Elizabeth's royal state visit to Australia. Since then countless famous musicians have been putting their trust in this dynamic microphone, including such greats as Bob Dylan and David Bowie. The M 88 has truly earned its reputation as a classic mic.
That's why the M 88 Limited Anniversary Edition sports a retro look based on the original design of the first models. The matte black shaft is fitted with a plug sleeve, the mic grille is made of shimmering, fine-meshed stainless steel and the microphone ring has a nostalgic feel thanks to an engraved beyerdynamic typeface that used to be common in the old days. The jubilee edition comes in a sophisticated black case with imprint, complete with microphone clamp and bag.
The limited edition M 88 anniversary model will be available from retailers at the end of March 2012.
