Microphone sets for percussion instruments
New, with a boundary microphone: beyerdynamic TG Drum Sets for discerning users
Heilbronn, November 2017: beyerdynamic has restructured the popular TG Drum Sets: The set, which includes superb-sounding drum set microphones from the beyerdynamic Touring Gear series, now also includes the new TG D71 boundary microphone. The TG D71 is easy to position and will impress with powerful sound, and is particularly suitable for miking bass drums and cajons. There are four TG Drum Sets available with various microphone combinations – all together, they offer attractive value for money.
TG D71 boundary microphone
The new beyerdynamic TG D71 is a professional boundary microphone that works as a pressure gradient receiver and has a half-cardioid polar pattern. The condenser capsule (back electret) transmits frequencies of 25 hertz to 20 kHz and can handle a max. sound pressure level (SPL) of 148 dB. A three-pin XLR connector is provided for transporting both the audio signal and the phantom power required for operation – the correct power supply is signalled via a red status LED.
At just 413 grams and in practical dimensions (90 x 86 x 27mm), the new beyerdynamic boundary microphone is not only perfectly suited for use in a bass drum, but also for various other applications – in addition to percussion instruments, it also delivers excellent results when used to record pianos, for example.
The TG D71’s sturdy microphone housing guarantees optimum protection against damage during often harsh day-to-day on-stage use, and thanks to its construction the it can be positioned in the bass drum without additional fixings. The rubberised underside ensures a non-slip grip on smooth surfaces and a mounting device is provided for fixed installations. Each
TG D71 is hand-made in Germany with the greatest care using high-quality components.
The sound of the beyerdynamic TG D71 is characterised in particular by an exceptionally quick response time, which guarantees high impulse fidelity. The transients are precisely replicated, the sound is powerful and natural.
Even when subject to high sound levels, transmission remains free of distortion and the half-cardioid polar pattern contributes to feedback stability.
First-class sound – for beginners and professionals
The newly compiled beyerdynamic TG Drum Sets are still available in a selection of models: each of the PRO S, PRO M, PRO L and PRO XL sets are currently available with the TG D71 boundary model instead of the previously included TG D50 or TG D70 bass drum microphone – and a microphone kit supplied with a boundary is a real first for the market! The TG Drum Sets come in durable soft carrying cases with protective moulded foam padding and enough space for additional microphones.
These practical microphone packages meet both the needs of beginners and the discerning audio expectations of professional drummers, and guarantee first-class results – on the stage and in the recording studio. Another feature that will make drummers’ hearts beat faster: even though the sets are now even more attractively equipped with the TG D71 boundary microphone, their recommended retail prices have not been raised.
The recommended retail prices are 359 EUR for the TG Drum Set PRO S, 499 EUR for the TG Drum Set PRO M, 949 EUR for the TG Drum Set PRO L and 1999 EUR for the TG Drum Set PRO XL. The new TG Drum Sets are available now for purchase from selected retailers and at www.beyerdynamic.com.
