Premium in-ear headset for mobile devices

An extremely thin copper wire in the voice coil supplies lightning-fast responds to any change in voltage. As a result the iDX 200 iE provides a transparent sound reproduction. Especially the trebles are gracile and precise. Optimized filter tunings enhance balanced bass and mids.

A perfect fit is mandatory to bring off the full sound quality, plus it ensures a comfortable fit in order to listen to music for a longer period of time. Therefore the scope of delivery includes 10 different eartips: 5 silicone eartips, 2 flange eartips and 3 pairs of Comply™ foam eartips.

A high-quality microphone supports telephone calls and Skype calls on all common smartphones, tablets and personal computers. The remote can be used on all Apple and many Android devices.

The housing is made of a titanium alloy that is more resistant and solid than aluminium, plus it underlines the iDX 200 iE as the top model of the iDX family.

The detachable cables enable a flexible application. The cable length of the iDX 200 iE is 40 cm and it can be extended with a 90 cm cable. Also a new material in the cable improves the durability massively and it reduces cable noises effectively.

  • Premium-quality hands-free microphone for phone calls, Skype and with convenient 3-button remote control for media playback (Apple-compatible)
  • Outstanding detailed and transparent sound thanks to powerful Neodymium acoustic drivers
  • Perfect fit and best wearing comfort due to 10 eartips in various sizes and versions
  • High-quality and light metal housing with titanium alloy

iDX 200iE: Fantastic sound quality and an excellent, durable build 08/2016

Title: REVIEW: Beyerdynamic iDX 200 iE

"(...) occasionally you get a set that not only exceeds expectations, but elbow drops them from the top rope.

"That sums up the IDX 200 iE, the tiny headphones that could. We went from hating them to loving them within such a short space of time, our backstopping broke the land speed record. For headphones that will cost you around £200, you might have the same reaction when taking them out of the box, but there is a quality to the manufacturing here."

"The iDX 200 iE has the look of a cheap, easy to break pair of headphones from a distance, and this was our instant gut reaction when we got our initial hands-on. However, despite how hard and soul crushing admitting it is, we were absolutely wrong. Don’t tell anyone."

"The shape of the earbuds themselves have a ‘bullet’ look to them, crafted from a titanium alloy. With this they are shockingly light, but more importantly, durable. They just feel so well made from the first time you pick them up, but the visual design does little to entice curious onlookers."

"(... ) and the sound from the iDX 200 iE is mindbogglingly solid for the size. It won’t beat an over ear headphone setup, but it comes closer than any other. The bass has a genuinely unprecedented amount of rumble, and the general sound quality is both crisp and clear. For an inner ear headphone, it doesn’t get much better than this, and despite lacking any active sound blocking, very little outside noise gets past the well made earbuds."

"Despite concerns centering around a seeming extortionate cost and dubious build quality, we kind of fell in love with the iDX 200 iE. Fantastic sound quality and an excellent, durable build make it the kind of device we are happy to blow our much coveted Christmas gift money on (...)."

"If you are in the market for a new pair of discreet, but powerful inner-ear headphones, there isn’t much out there that can go toe to toe with the iDX 200 iE. It may not look like much, but this unimposing set can beat the big boys at their own game."

iDX 200 iE: Balanced in-ear headphones 10/2015

The main differences between the iDX 160 and 200 models are the enhanced sound transducers and their rugged housing.  According to beyerdynamic the efficiency of the sound transducers has been increased by using fine copper wire and other measures, which you will notice at once when testing the iDX 160 iE and iDX 200 iE one after another. When using the iDX 200 iE with an iPhone using the same selected volume as with the iDX 160, you will notice that it is much louder.

When wearing the iDX 200 iE for a longer period of time, you can appreciate its balance. This is something that all in-ear models from beyerdynamic, which I tested until now, have in common. When listening with them for a longer period of time, it will not cause irritation of the ears: the bass is reproduced very well, the highs are not too sharp and sound very balanced.

It is always difficult to compare different headphones with each other. One song which I listened with different models is „The Pretender“, the opening track from Foo Fighters milestone „Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace”. Right at the beginning you can hear in addition to the E-guitar plucked violins on the left channel, a detail that only better headphones reveal. Here the iDX 200 does not have any problems, even when over-ear models fail with the presence of violin sounds due to their design.
The fact that the iDX 200 iE is minimally different than my previous favourite iDX 160 iE can be seen later in the song, when drums and guitars are added: with the iDX 200 iE the mids sound more present, without being too intrusive. The iDX 200 iE handles two of my personal reference songs very well: Tori Amos‘ Adaption by Lennon/McCartney’s “Happiness is a Warm Gun” on “Strange Little Girls” (2001) makes some loudspeakers and headphones boom with their exuberant bass. The iDX 200 iE forgive the song the bass-heavy mixing. Also Foreigner‘s “Tooth and Nail” on “Agent Provocateur” from 1984, which is a song emphasizing the mids, is no problem for the iDX 200 iE and sounds more pleasant as with many other players. This is exactly what I expect from good headphones when using them on the move: that they are not complicated, balance over- or underemphasized frequency ranges so that all songs are pleasant for the ears. No doubt about it, the beyerdynamic iDX 200 iE will serve you well.
Conclusion: Once again the beyerdynamic iDX 200 iE shows that beyerdynamic knows how to design balanced in-ear headphones.

The iDX 160 iE are very good in-ear headphones, but the iDX 200 iE are still better.

As usual the workmanship of the ear parts is perfect (...).

Especially with in-ear headphones the correct fit is of highest importance, as for the bass response there must be a closed room, in this case the ear. This is the reason why beyerdynamic supplies five very differently shaped ear tips including two pairs of ribbed flange tips made of soft silicone and two memory foam tips from the manufacturer Comply. When you have found the right size, most of ambient noise is attenuated and the headphones fit perfectly tight. The flat cable does not tangle up and conducts much less noise to the ear than other cables, which is quite practical when exercising. The sound of the iDX 200 iE is good to very good, and with poor MP3s mixed at a low bit rate the headphone clearly revealed all deficiencies of the recordings. On the other hand, our lossless encoded FLAC songs could push the limits of sound spectrum of the iDX 200 iE and demonstrate its strengths in the treble range.

Due to the good ambient noise attenuation you can operate the headphone at a relatively low volume and even though you will hear all facets of a song. It also worked very well when phoning with the microphone of the remote control, because beyerdynamic obviously integrated a decent microphone that also filters out the usual traffic noise to some extent.
All in all the developers launched a good headphone, which is in the same league as headphones of comparable competitors.
