Closed supraaural headphone with straight cable for control and monitoring applications, musicians and DJ's.

Please click here for more information about Tesla Technology.Completely re-engineered transducers (drivers) based on a neodymium ring magnet with optimized magnetic field characteristics. This combination creates a magnetic field inside the transducer which is far stronger (> 1,2 Tesla - measuring unit for magnetic flux density - with current headphones the strength of the magnetic field is < 0,65 Tesla) than in standard headphones. Because of this increased magnetic field, the voice coil is more compact but still provides a very high degree of efficiency. The membrane, consisting of a 3 layer "compound foil", delivers an extremely precise frequency response and guarantees, in collaboration with the strong magnet, a transparent and distortion free sound.

DT 1350:            1.5 m (4.92 ft.) straight cable
DT 1350 CC:            3.0 m (9.8 ft.) coiled cable

In a marked departure from traditional beyerdynamic headphone design, the striking aesthetics of the re-newed DT 1350 make it stand out from the crowd, delivering a professional, timeless quality that is both attractive and rugged.

A combination of highly efficient ambient noise reduction and an impressive maximum sound pressure level (129 dB) make the DT 1350 an ideal compact over-ear headphone for audio engineers, broadcasters, musicians and DJ’s. Regardless of whether you are a sound engineer monitoring PA systems, a broadcast engineer monitoring recoreded sound, a live musician or a DJ, the DT 1350 delivers every time.

The Tesla drivers offer an enormous degree of efficiency with extremely low levels of distortion, allowing the DT 1350 to produce a perfectly balanced, analytical sound even at the highest volumes. The removable ear cushions, combined with a flexible split headband design ensure the headphones sit securely and remain comfortable even during prolonged periods of use. The swivelling ear cups (90°) also allow “single-ear” monitoring.

Headphone impedanceAlso known as nominal impedance. The impedance is the AC resistance of the coils of loudspeakers and headphones in ohms. Since impedance depends on the frequency, it is always specified at a frequency of one kilohertz.   80 ohms
Headphone frequency responseThe frequency response specifies the highest and lowest frequencies reproduced by the acoustic transducer of the headphones.   5 - 30.000 Hz
Nominal sound pressure levelThe acoustical level, the headphone transducer produces to an artificial ear (a measurement device, which simulates a human ear) with an input power of 1 mW (dB/mW @ 500 Hz).   109 dB
ConstructionSound coupling to the ear. A differentiation is made between supraaural headphones, circumaural headphones and in-ear headphones.   Supraaural (on-ear)

As a set of closed headphones, the DT-1350 only allows a little sound to escape into the surroundings. I tested the headphones during a long train journey and no one complained. The reduction of external noise is also OK and is only limited by the shape designed to rest on your ears. Only headphones which fully enclose your ears offer better passive sound insulation. Our candidate is thus perfectly suitable for example for voice recordings in the studio or even for loud environments such as a front-of-house mixing desk or DJ booth.

The DT 1350 fits comfortably on your ear and is also light enough for longer sessions. The cushioning plays a not insignificant part in that.

I have tested the DT-1350 on a variety of headphone amplifiers ranging from cheap to expensive, with all sorts of music styles. Right from the start, I found it positive that it doesn’t overdo it in any frequency range. That means that it doesn’t exaggerate for effect.
The Tesla drivers ensure a precise sound and the headphones respond impressively quickly to transients. The resolution in the high range is clear without any overemphasis. The headphones reproduce complex bass passages commandingly, although I couldn’t hear the very lowest registers. The upper bass range on the other hand sounds very dynamic and does well with short pulses.

Thanks to its low weight, compact design and good noise insulation, it is a very pleasant travelling companion, and will particularly impress DJs with its swivelling earpieces.

The beyerdynamic DT 1350 provides a sound that is well balanced, poor in distortion or resonances and differentiated in a room setting. The subtleness of the sound is excellent. This headphone is not only suitable for DJs or recording in the studio, but more generally for all demanding sound lovers on the move. If we still look at the use in the studio or club, the very high maximum sound pressure and good shielding are to be commended. It does not matter what noise there is "outside", you can always listen to the sound undisturbed. The swiveling and folding ear cups make the device flexible, especially when placed (keyword: ear monitoring) in a compact profile during transport. Furthermore, a firm fit is ensured by the spreadable headband. Finally, the fine workmanship of the headphones is a highlight, which should give it a long life.

The qualities mentioned in the test review for the beyerdynamic DT 1350 lead to ultimately good four out of five points in the price-performance ratio - good stuff."

The beyerdynamic DT 1350 convinces with a very detailed reproduction, which divides the individual tracks, percussion beats and reverb tails more meticulously than the other models.

The strongest bass in the test reaches deep down without being bloated, the mids appear controlled, tuning details can be checked well.

The DT 1350 is a professional acoustic loupe, which can excellently reveal sonic defects, noise and distortion.

Sound rating: Very good

I think I'll throw in a couple of quotes from others on Head-Fi:

"The DT 1350 buries and puts the nail on the coffin on all of my former headphones." - Dyn4m1c95

"These are truly the perfect portables." - Dyn4m1c95

"They're like the headphone equivalent of a great small loudspeaker." - Beagle

And my comment in the thread:

"Spoiler: They're the best supra-aural, sealed headphones I've heard. Maybe I'll just post that." - Tyll Hertsens

Indeed, it's very hard not to just post: Buy the DT 1350, they are full of win in every possible way. I more than strongly recommend them; I think if you're interested in headphones you should do everything within the law to get your hands on a pair to permanently add to your collection. These are the new standard for portable earpad headphones, and I suspect they'll hold that chair for a long, long time. They have my highest possible recommendation.

REVIEW: Beyerdynamic DT 1350 DJ Headphones

Mark Settle on the DT 1350:

"Hype: Pretty much everything
Gripe: Obviously price, but if pushed I'd say not as bassy as regular DJ headphones, the relatively small fit and the potential lack of longevity of the headband cushions."

DT 1350: Professional Headphones
ProAudio Review, issue 06/11, editor Tony Ware

In extracts:

[...] The DT 1350, rated at 5 - 30,000 Hz, is anchored with low end that's impressively assertive for its size, kept proportionate with treble extension that's not peaky and controlled, slightly forward midrange. This direct but not brightened presentation has just a touch more perceivable clarity in the intimate lower mids, which comes across as delivering less liquidity but imparts a presence that cuts through high-volume environments. Even competing with a noise threshold, as it did when I DJ'ed a country club gig, directly flanked by two dual 15-inch JBL cabinets and a dedicated sub, the Tesla architecture skillfully assures a detail-oriented soundstage that never feels fatiguing or that it's straining for accuracy.
